How the calculation works
Fabric GSM means grams per square meter. Once the fabric width is known, GSM can be used to estimate the weight of one linear meter. That lets us convert between total kilograms and total linear meters.
Weight per linear meter (kg)
(GSM × width in meters) ÷ 1000
(GSM × width in meters) ÷ 1000
For KG → meters, divide total kilograms by the weight of one linear meter. For meters → KG, multiply linear meters by the weight of one linear meter.
Example
A 280 GSM fabric with a width of 150 cm weighs approximately 0.42 kg per linear meter. Therefore, 100 kg contains approximately 238.10 meters of fabric.
Important: This is a theoretical estimate. Actual usable length can vary because of moisture, finishing, selvage, width variation and other production tolerances.
